I wish I could say that I was one of those Moms who could make a home-cooked meal every single day. But, the harsh reality is that I just don’t always have the luxury of time to do that.
Because of this, I am always looking for shortcuts on eating healthy. I find that buying healthy frozen foods tends to help me stay on track without feeling too much guilt.
I recently purchased a few frozen foods which have now become my long-term staples.
1. Evol brand
I first discovered the Evol brand at my local grocery store’s freezer section. They have different varieties–something for everyone. They have many vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian options available which all taste great.
Their food is real, clean, and contains nothing artificial. They have a wide variety of foods that use bold and delicious flavors. Although I’ve tried many, I REALLY appreciated the Fire Grilled Steak bowl which has black beans, white rice, red & green bell peppers, roasted corn and cheddar cheese–All topped with an insanely tasty cilantro lime pesto.

2. Gardein
The next brand I’m loving is made by gardein, a vegan food company which creates meatless options that are non-GMO, dairy free, and contain plant-based protein.
I have tried several options and the one I like the best are the nashville hot chick’n tenders–Juicy plant-based chick’n breaded with a kick of spice.
What I love about their products is that they’re free from:
- Artificial colors & flavors
- Preservatives
- Cholesterol
- Trans fats
- PHO’s
- MSG
This has been by far the best brand I’ve tried for vegan chick’n because it has a great taste and texture.
3. Udi’s
I had personally never tried any of the Udi’s brand of products unti I found this BBQ flavored chicken pizza. made with a sweet potato crust and topped with mozzarella and smoked gouda cheese along with sweet BBQ sauce and white meat chicken.
This pizza had my hubbys name written all over it as he is a huge gouda cheese fan. He was nervous about trying it because of the unique, sweet potato crust but was pleasantly surprised that it tasted so good.
This pizza has an awesome taste and texture and is gluten free.
4. Healthy Choice
I had always heard of the Healthy Choice brands but had never really tried any of their products. I found the grain free power bowl with spicy beef teriyaki and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh it tasted.
These bowls are a reliable source of fiber and protein providing 18-20 grams of protein and 5-7 grams of fiber per bowl.
This particular bowl is perfect for anyone doing the low carb lifestyle as it has cauliflower instead of rice.
