Last week, I could not stop eating. It was almost as if I had a hole in my stomach where food would just dissipate.
What made matters worse was I had an insatiable sweet tooth that just wouldn’t let up. In fact, I am pretty sure I shamelessly gained a few lbs from my ravenous escapade.
I decided to play around with some ingredients in my kitchen. I’m known for making desserts out of the most random things you can find in the pantry or fridge.
I had made something similar before using a variation of these ingredients but never had good results. I think adding in the medjool dates did something for the texture of this recipe and added more natural sweetness I didn’t have to feel too guilty about.
What I got was a tasty “brownie batter” that boasted good-for-you ingredients and could be eaten with a spoon. What more could you possibly ask for?

Here’s what you’ll need for this recipe:
- 1 can of chickpeas with skin removed
- 1/3 cup cashew butter
- 5 pitted medjool dates
- 2 tbs maple syrup
- 2 tbs protein powder of choice
- 2 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Chocolate chips
You’ll notice that this snack is high in protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. I can almost guarantee that you won’t get half of those things with regular brownie batter!
This snack is a win-win for chocolate lovers everywhere. Now without further adieu, let’s get to the recipe!
