My self-care and skin-care routine

**This post is sponsored by Bioré, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

As a Business owner and Mom of two, It’s easy to lose myself to the chaos of the daily grind. One of the majors goals that I had set for myself back in 2016 was to put more love and care into my well being.

After having my first baby, I quickly realized that if I wanted to be the best Mom I could be, I needed to take care of myself first. I wanted to lose weight, increase my energy, and improve my overall mental health.

After all,

“You cannot pour from an empty cup.”

Luckily, I’ve been blessed with an amazing Husband and family who understand how important it is to me to have “me” time.

With that said, I have certain routines and activities that I Partake in which leave me feeling my best.

My self care routine involves the following:

  • Acupuncture. I cannot express enough how important acupuncture and cupping are to me. Acupuncture for my personally helps me manage my stress and has in the past, even treated the common cold. Not to mention, coupling it with cupping and chiropractic care helps me feel my very best. I try and go pretty frequently, about once a week or at least twice a month.
  • Gym. Working out helps me stay active, energetic and trim. It also helps to fight off stress and anxiety, boost my mood, and helps me relax. I try to go a few times a week and when I can’t, I set aside time to either workout at home, or go for a quick run outside.
  • Quiet time. I usually need about 2 hours of quiet time to myself daily during which, I meditate or read. It’s also in this time that I learn a new skill, or study something which I want to improve upon. Being an introvert by nature makes me more prone to needing frequent quiet time. As much as I love my family, I sometimes need quiet time for me to just reflect. I do this usually once the kids are sleeping either for a nap during the day or at night.
  • Go on a short getaway. This one might be controversial to many but there’s nothing wrong with taking a mini vacation either by yourself or with your spouse to get away from the craziness of everyday life. For me personally, I enjoy taking weekend trips with my Husband and even solo especially when It’s related to work. Just getting to sleep in alone is enough of a reason to do this. I highly recommend it!
  • Beauty regimen. My beauty regimen, although basic, is extremely important to me. Being that I’m now 32 (eek), I find myself needing to spend a little extra time on my appearance. Taking care of how I look on the outside, tremendously helps my confidence which puts me in a much better mood overall. It consists of things like laser hair removal, deep hair treatments, hair styling, and getting my nails done. But perhaps the most of where I spend my time when it comes to my beauty regimen is in my skincare routine.

My skincare routine

When it comes to taking care of my skin, I find that focusing on managing my stress and watching what I put in my body tends to help it looking It’s best.

However, I also am extremely mindful of what I am putting ON my skin as well. I have a certain beauty regimen which I stick to daily.

I focus on the following every single day when it comes to the skin on my face:

  • Cleanse my skin and pores using witch hazel
  • Hydrate using a moisturizer
  • Treat acne scars using a needle roller
  • Use a charcoal mask every other day
  • Exfoliate my skin 2-3 times a week using a natural sugar cleanser
  • Massage my skin at night with oil using a jade roller, rinse, and apply a retinol-based night cream

Why I added Bioré® products to my routine

I picked up these Bioré® Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips and a bottle of Witch Hazel toner from Walmart recently to add to my skincare/beauty routine.

I still deal with adult acne from time to time usually triggered by hormonal changes and stress. I like witch hazel because It’s a natural anti-septic and can help with things like redness and breakouts.

I’ve also always had a problem with blackheads on my nose so I’ve always used some type of pores strips. However, not all pore strips work like these Bioré® strips.

Unlike other pore strips, Bioré® Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips use a blend of C-bond technology to safely remove dirt, oil, and blackheads. These strips work like a super magnet, locking onto and lifting out deep-down dirt, oil, and EVEN blackheads from your most clogged pores. Bioré® Deep Cleansing Pore Strips are the trusted, dermatologist-tested way to purify pores.

Long known for its astringent and pore cleansing properties, Witch Hazel is a multi-purpose remedy. The natural ingredient is known to tighten pores, purify, refresh and help heal skin. When Bioré® Pore Clarifying Toner is combined with this botanical astringent, it helps to heal problem skin.

Although I don’t always have time for myself, I do try my very best to deliberately make the time. I have to say in the last 3 years, I have spent a great deal of time improving aspects of myself I was once discontent with.

Some may call it selfish or irresponsible but I wholeheartedly disagree. If we don’t make ourselves happy, we cannot make others happy. Point blank. It all starts with us first!
