Honey Garlic Cauliflower Wings

These are the best cauliflower wings you’ll have today.

Bold statement yes, but I know a good thing when I see it…or in this case, taste it.

To say that things have been a little hectic in my life these days would be an understatement and trying to juggle all the craziness has certainly been overwhelming. But as usual, I remind myself that there’s always beauty in the madness and I intend on discovering it everyday.

What’s been helping me stay grounded besides eating healthy, is rest, lots of water, deep breathing, and regularly attending my accupuncture/cupping sessions.

I’ve also been trying to cut back on my meat consumption and intake as much plant-based food as I can. I know that it isn’t always easy to stick with a healthy lifestyle so in order to keep it appealing, I try to be somewhat creative…kind of like this recipe.

I know what you’re probably thinking, cauliflower cannot be made into “wings”, it just can’t. Well, I’m here to tell you that it can AND it can taste pretty darn good in the process,

I tend to be one of those people who is always seeking a healthier version of all my favorites. Once I find a good recipe, I tend to tweak it to my liking and share it with the world. That is no exception to these delicious honey garlic cauliflower “wings”.

If you’re as busy as me these days and would STILL like to eat healthy while cutting back on inflammation-producing meat products, you neeeeed this recipe in your life, trust me. I simply breaded the cauliflower, baked it, and then tossed it in this incredible home made honey garlic sauce. The sauce itself literally took 5 minutes to make. You cannot beat that!

To dress these bad boys up, I topped them with some chopped up scallions. It really helped to add some additional flavor to the recipe as well as some contrast! My hubby was pretty impressed at the savory flavor and said that he didn’t mind at all that these had no meat in them whatsoever. I took that as a huge compliment since he’s one of the biggest food critics I know and a big meat eater.

Honey Garlic Cauliflower Wings

Honey Garlic Cauliflower Wings

Ingredients

  • For the "wings"
  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup of oat flour
  • 1.5 cups of whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs (vegan substitution can be plain almond milk)
  • For the sauce
  • 1/3 cup tamari sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbs sriracha sauce
  • 2 tsp corn starch
  • 4 tbs of water
  • Optional
  • Scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Set up working station by pouring the bread crumbs, eggs, and flour in 3 separate bowls.
  3. Separate and chop cauliflower head into chunks resembling the wings and toss with the oat flour until full coated.
  4. beat the eggs and add about 3 tbs of water.
  5. Dip the cauliflower into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumbs making sure to coat evenly.
  6. Transffer onto baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until crispy.
  7. Begin making sauce
  8. Dissolve the cornstarch into the water and set aside.
  9. Combine the rest of the sauce ingredients into a saucepan and cook on high for about 5 minutes or until mixture starts to boil.
  10. Pour the corn starch in and reduce to a simmer while stirring occasionally. Once sauce is thickened, it can be taken off the heat.
  11. Take the cauliflower out of the oven, toss in the sauce (make sure to coat evenly), and place back in the oven to broil on high for about 2-3 minutes.
  12. Top with scallions and serve.
